Friend of a friend works for Aston, and apparently they can barely give those things away.

Same here, my navvie works for Aston and he got one given to him as a company car

 

I think they're marketed as deals when someone buys a "proper" Aston... "car for the madam, sir?"

 

Pretty pointless, but I believe Aston had to make a number of them to meet EU regs or somesuch?

It's to bring their overall emissions down in their car range. Basically a Toyota IQ with badges and an expensive price tag.

Many years ago at a 205 meet at the Quays in Surrey Wizek (no longer a memeber here) had a very fast mi16 on nos iirc. He was happily giving passenger rides and he had a race (well a bit of fun) with an Aston and won much to the dismay of the son cramped in the back and looking rather stupid sat next to his wife :lol: .
