Heater Blower... Not The Usual Problem

Ok, so the usual problem is that the blower doesn't blow strong, or that it is intermittent or just plane doesn't work....

 

Started my car up the other day, few days after I had a considerable amount of rain down into the intake due to not putting the scuttle back on properly under the window seal and it raining pretty heavy...

 

Now, my fans are on full blast!! Even though the dial is set to off!!

 

The only thing this is doing is annoying due to the constant full fan noise, but other than that, I can live with it for now, and take the fuse out when ur had enough. Anyone else had this??

Sounds like you have drowned the resisitor control module that lives in the fan intake housing.

Have a nosey at the rheostat. 2 screws up underneath the fan.

You can fix some of them, normally the tag on the transistor corrodes up, you can just add a piece of suitable cable for a Earth and job done,

yeah mine did this when the transistor was goosed. randomly went on and off. you can buy reconditioned boards on ebay, but make sure you get the right amount of pins. a five pin worked in my 4 pin ( i think) but it works better with the proper amount of pins. nice and easy job replacing it. probably would be possible to just replace the transistor and order it from cpc/farnell...
