Does A 205 Bonnet Fit In A 205?

Recommended Posts

I'm picking up an Auto bonnet at the weekend, it has to fit in the 205 as the alternative motor is even smaller on luggage space...

Basically does it fit? Easily? Any tips?

yup, better than it does in a 206!

make sure you have something to protect the corners.

A 106 bonnet fits in the back of a 106. I know that's not much help though.

Easier if you have someone from the front to protect it as you put it in, but lays flat in there.

Sweet, thanks chaps.

Been running around with a dented bonnet (yep, I left a spanner on top of the block. Doofus!) for at least two years now. Looking forward to getting it sorted.

How easy are they to fit?

Easy to fit, needs two people to get it on the hinges though, also put plenty of tape in the back corners to guard against scratches.

Poofter eh? I do mine by myself with no hassles. :P

Put 2 strips of thick cardboard (with cloth on top if you want) by the hinges to protect the corners, then lift the bonnet in place. If you slip the prop back on it's stud you can then hold the passenger side front corner and get a bolt in on that hinge, then repeat for driver's side, fit the second bolt to each side then go about adjusting the gaps.

Just don't go doing it in strong winds.

I did mine on my own too. It was a little easier than when I did my tailgate.

Do you not have any friends? In fact don't answer that one.

Can you fit a couple of handbags on a 205 forum?

Easy answer to initial question. Yes, especially if it's a cabriolet. In fact, anything & everything fits in the cabriolet. I've even carried an Edwardian wardrobe in my CTi. Just helps if it's not raining at the time.

Agreed, i managed to fit a 205 bonnet in the back of a 106 by myself no problem, used some protective towels around the corners. You'd be amazed on what you can fit inside the boot of a 205.
