Started life as a black 323se

Seen many wheels and chassis upgrades

Had the back seats in and out more times than a hookers knickers have been up and down

Is "IMO" the perfect mix of 3.0 and 3.2 m3..

Edit: have a read if you like, I lost a about ten pages when the forum crashed but most is there..

Bunch of photo whores :P

I'm still loving mine even in standard form, it just wafts about so smoothly :) the only thing that really bugs me is the massive steering wheel and really slow rack, All easily sorted though.

I thought I'd quashed my lust for E30s and M3s but thanks to you lot, that attraction is very much back.

Do I dare return to the E30Zone?

How I understand it is the E46 compact rack is 3 turns lock to lock and the z3 is 2.7, however the z3 rack gives less overall lock making it the same or worse than the e46 rack.

Plus you can pick up E46 racks for £35 whereas z3 ones seem to be 4 times that.

Is this a load of Internet rubbish then?

I thought I'd just missed out on the "facelift" mechanical changes, mine's April 2001, but checking out the part numbers, the steering parts and dampers are facelift, the rack being the same as the E46 Compact 32136755068. The facelift/compact set up used a different PAS pump to earlier models.

Mine's lowered 60mm front, 40mm rear. That pic was with the m20b20 lump in though, so the front sits lower than that with the m30 in. Saving up for coilovers for it at the moment.

I've got an e46 sport rack in the shed I bought when they were cheap, must get round to fitting it soon as apparently they transform the drive of the car :)

I'm not sure about the actual figures but what I do know is people started fitting the compact racks as they're readily available, better than oem and are cheap.

Breakers cottoned onto the z3 racks years ago and demand stupid money.

In the real world I don't you'd actually tell the difference.

My E36 328is is appalling on mpg, driving as carefully as possible its around 30 according to the OBC. Its not like its a high milage car either, 70k, fsh & bog standard.

Although that said, its an amazing engine and sounds awsome!

How do you find the 328i, I'm having serious thoughts about flogging my 205 and getting at 328i sport.

275bhp 600nm torques, 0-60 in around 5.5 and 40mpg :D :D

Mine too is best car I've ever owned.

Loving the E30 - I almost bought a 325i Sport in Ebay earlier in the year but went too high so sense prevailed lol!!

Change the car to white and there are very fond, super sideways memories flooding back! Used to have a 530 that was ruinous on fuel but hilarious fun to drive. Look forward to the finished project. Shame they're all guzzlers....an economical E30 Touring is tempting.

What's the boot like on these? Seriously considering a 330d but can't decide between a Coupe or a Touring (just incase I lug 205 parts about, rare though).

Bit hard to see with the sun but heres the boot of the coupe with a 15" alloy in it. I got all 4 in the boot plus a rucksack and mid sized suicase with room to spare. Its pretty big!! I sometimes think a touring would be the best of both worlds but the E91 actually is not that big a boot for an estate.

IMG_0574.jpg

Also in a coupe the rear seat backs fold down flat to give more space - its an option on the other models ;)

BMW baffle me sometimes, standard folding rear seats on the coupe, yet option on saloon and touring? The COupe isn't a 5 seater is it? Big hump in the middle of the rear bench. Sorry for the questions, but you've made my decision for me. A 330d Coupe please.

In fact, your list of vehicles is exactly what I plan in the near future....including the bike

I've got a hankering for a 535d touring at the moment, I have had for a while now. I think I may have to go drive one before too long to see if I do like it enough to save up for one....

Alan - Yeah its mad huh! (they may fold on a touring but they certainly don't on saloon without specifying the option, I *think* the touring is the same). BMW call it a "Ski Hatch". The coupes had quite a few extras fitted as standard over the saloon and touring, not least my other essential - Xenon lights, not many saloon and tourings with them spec'd. And yes, the coupe is a 4 seater, big armrest with cup holders in the middle!

Tom - A colleague as a saloon 535d and mine just edges away from his now its been remapped, with better fuel consumption. The 35d's are a bit more thirsty, so don't rule a 530d out if its got the spec you want, a remap will see it up to near 535d power anyway.

Mine (ours!)

2562531510056984843S600x600Q85.jpg

Must get some better photos.........

M Sport - different rear suspension to normal (i'm led to believe) + bodykit, leather seats etc

Xenons, heated seats and drug dealer privacy glass!

No ski hatch on ours.

Boot is ok and is capacity wise is bigger than an A4 - however a lot of the size they advertise is under the boot floor! The boot space isn't as 'practical' as an A4. However it's RWD!!

Quickish, handles and turns in rather well for a barge.

One rear tyre costs more than a complete (5) set of the old GSD3's on the 205

Should have the button on the front seats to expand/contract the seat sides, if it's an M Sport. M Sport suspension is different shocks/springs and I think, ARBs too.

They go very, very well with a remap ;)

The button is there, it expands the bolsters with air. The lower part of the seat also pulls forward for the longer legged person.

I've heard a remap can make quite a difference!!

The led's in the door handles are quite amusing.

Went out in the 205 the other day, kept trying to go into 6th!
