Motronic M1.3 Code Reader

Hi all,

 

I need to read the fault code that is bringing on the "k" light on.

 

Can anybody tell me how to make a code reader, I have searched and found something to do with an led and a bit of wire from pin 1 on the plug.

 

I have also found some information on another site saying to simply earth pin 1 on the diagnostic plug then count the "k" light flashes. I would like to confirm this before earthing anything.
