ok im sure i have seen it on here, got a parking fine through the door this morning wanting £50 going to £80 if i dont pay by the 19th july, but i think its one of them private parking firms as the parking charge is only done on a piece of A4 paper so do i not pay the fine?

Put it in the bin. Unless its issued by the council its not worth the paper its written on.

It depends on who issued it, but if it is a private parking charge then they will need to prove there has been a contract that you entered into. Even if they can do that, they aren't going to claim back all of that money as it is disproportionate to their losses. I used to work on a free legal helpline - they are open until 8 and can give full advice. Message me if you want the details as I don't want to get told off for advertising. But they will explain the law behind it (I cba as I just finished work!)

If as you say it is a 'Parking Charge Notice' then yes, just bin it and what ever you do DO NOT reply to any letters they send to you, just bin them also, what is the name of the company that issued the fine?

I have had a couple of tickets in the car park of the local Sainsbury's. Annoying as they let you park for an hour free, but you must display a ticket etc.

As they are a private company I have always paid no attention to the tickets and binned them. My understanding was that they couldn't get your address unless you entered into correspondence with them, so the trick was not to write to them or acknowledge them in any way.Sure enough I have never heard anything further.

I now understand that the DVLA sell information to pretty much any organisation that will pay for it, hence they can write to you at home.

As has been said, ignore it. Let them do the chasing if they can be arsed. It won't be worth them taking you to court.

I love parking eye, they operate some of the best 'free to park' car parks in the UK. They've even be considerate enough to supply me with plenty of paper to get my stove lit going in the colder months, what a thoughtful company.
