Tu3S Manifold Question

Recommended Posts

Miguelhbx

Will a manifold from a 205 rallye or ax sport fit in a tu3s engine?

I really want to do a double carb conversion, but building a manifold from zero is rather expensive, plus buying the carbs and etc it becomes rather expensive.

I wonder if the ax sport and 205 rallye intake manifold would fit this engine, and/or can be easily adapted to fit, and if so, what would be needed , workwise.

If not, how hard would it be to adapt a Weber DCOE 40 to the tu3s original manifold.

Thank you for your time.

I would say its more effort than its worth to try and fit a DCOE 40 to the original manifold. If you can find a twin carb manifold for a AX GT, UK Rallye, XS etc etc (TU3's of the age) then it will fit. If you do fit twin carbs then the engine mount needs to be trimmed or a custom item fabricated as it fouls.

No; the number of studs and hence the spacing is different. I don't think the port would line up properly either.

I agree that fitting a DCOE to the standard manifold is more trouble than it is worth, as the manifold is designed for a down draft carb. As Alley says it would be easier to look for a specific side draft manifold for the head.

you might be able to use the flange from the original manifold but not much more I suspect
