Testing Coolant Warning Light

Hello,

Is there a way of testing that this lamp comes on?

I've tried bridging the contacts in all combinations at the sensor end but to no avail.

Do you mean the high water temp warning lamp, if so simply pull the wire off the sensor and connect that wire to a good earth point. Warning lamp should come on.
