Gti And Diesel Fuel Pump Differences

As above, does anyone know if they are the same or not?

Gti has electric pump in tank, diesel has injector pump driven off the cambelt(no lift pump).

they are VERY VERY different.

 

a diesel 205 has a mechanical pump operated by the timing belt, the injected 205's have an in tank electric pump.

I know diesel's have the injector pump on the engine, but i didnt know if there was an electric pump in the tank to push the fuel up to it.

nope, though many high pressure commonrail injected diesels do, like the 306 hdi.
