Gear Jumping Out And Sloppy

Recommended Posts

ozy

Hi, first of all thanks for the help with front wheel bearing, what a job.

I am having problems with the gears jumping out on the over run, also the gear change feels sloppy.

Just wondering if this could be linkage or gear box mounting worn.

Thank you for your time.

Check the pivot ball that is bolted onto the subframe hasn't come loose, as this can give you problems like you mention.

As you said, check the condition of the linkages and gearbox mount too, get the jack and axle stands out and have a look.

Yes, I agree. Have a look at the linkage pivot. I had the same jumping out of gear problem, but it was because the pivot was too stiff. Make sure it can move nice and freely, the engine moves alot between acceleration/decceleration.

Hi guys thank you for the replies, I am not sure if I have this mounting right. It is the round rubber mounting under the floor.

It bolts onto the body work via another rubber mounting. so sorry for the confusion.
