Best Material For A Clear Sunroof Plate

I want to redo my sunroof blanking plate, now what is the best transparent material to use that's readily available and not too expensive?

 

The plan is to remove the metal plate on there at the moment and replace with perspex/lexan(?) and stick/rivet the trims back on.

 

Any opinions?

Never use Perspex, it shatters.

I was told Lexan is the same material as used on riot sheilds. I think id be happy with that protecting my head. If you have any Id like to see some pics of what you have done to your sunroofs.

It cost me £40 for a complete roof.

Id imagine that is the cheap bit, did you weld it yourself then? il take a look at your project.

Can anybody recommend a place to source 3mm Lexan? I need a sheet 670mm x 875mm. 3mm thick.

 

All of the Ebay stuff is the wrong size

I'd recommend 4mm Paul, its a little stiffer and wont cost mush more at all, though would need to check if it'll fit in the runners.

i need to 3mm so it fits between the sunroof trims and the roof. I've removed the complete sunroof frame ages ago and no intention on fitting it again. It's literally got a plate over it

have you got a project thread for removing the sunroof id like to get rid of mine as it whistles when hitting around 55mph so without having the music loud its fookin annoyin lol
