Afm Bolts

Recommended Posts

Carbs4me

Hello all,

My AFM keeps dropping bolts because of the vibrations now i have 0 remaing on a quick inspection at the weekend due to a high idle..

I keep having to replace them for the reason above, from a local nuts and bolt place. i was wondering if im getting the right size ones.

Can anyone point me in the right type of bolts i need or a solution to stop them falling out.

Thanks,

Ant

Chances are the bolts are OK (the 4 holding the adaptor on are M6, there is an M8 in the side) but the M6 female threads in the AFM are knackered so the bolts are not going up tight. I now helicoil them if there is any doubt about the condition of the threads in the casting. If you cannot do the bolts up properly tight in the end of the AFM then the threads are knackered, and the bolts will just rattle out with the vibration in the engine bay.

M6 with a fairly large captive washer, never had issue with them falling out but a dab of threadlock cant hurt.
