Hand Written Letters On The Backside Of Interior Plastics

Yesterday I have removed all the plastic parts that make the dashboard/console/gearbox shell. I have noted that on many of them there are some hand written symbols and letters such as "3", or "G", one for each piece.

Is it normal? Or should I suppose that my car has been put together with pieces coming from the scrapyards in who knows which arcane circumnsances??

when I worked in a factory making jaguar/landrover plastic parts, we had to put a stamped sticker inside to each part to prove we had checked it was made to the correct standard. it would then have another sticker and stamp if there was a second proccess involved (eg. painting or finishing).

So I would imagine it may be a similar sort of quality control measure

When I worked in salvage we would almost always clock the old Porsches, because it was so easy and my boss knew Porsches like the back of his hand (yes we were a dodgy place). And one day we got the dials out and turned them over and there was a written message which said "Oh no, not again!!!", that perked me up for the rest of the afternoon.
