Please Help With Xu10J4Rs Cams Timing

Recommended Posts

Hello from Belarus.

Sorry for my English.

I building 205 gti with trottle bodies from suzuki gsxr1000 and gti6 head / xu9j4 (DFW) buttom end hybrid engine.

Now it's running 6.5 seconds to 100 km/h with standart cams.

I want to adjust cams timing because now there is no overlap between in and ex cams in TDC. I think I made a small mistake when installed them. But i don't understand there is mistake.

Can you tell me standart cams specs of xu10j4rs engine?

i have find only that:

Duration at 1.27 mm lift: 205 degrees

Maximum Lift : 9.144 mm

If you know please help me with

Advansed duration

Lift at TDC

Lobe Centre Angle (i think that it 111 degrees?)

Cam timing

I hope for your help, thank you.

Eugeniy.

if they are standard cams then using the pinned positions will suffice given the camshaft pulleys are adjustable to allow for variances in belt tension when fitted.

The cams are standart. I used pulleys from citroen xm - but pins positions in them are the same as in standart gti6 pulleys. The problem is that i don't know duration, overlap and cams timing in values. Because i want to ajust cam timing for more power in high rpm

That'll make for a slower car in my experience, advancing the inlet camshaft a few degrees will give more midrange without any detrimental effect to peak power output though it will bring it down the RPM range, an good thing for the longevity IMO!

But if you don't know the history of the cylinder head then leaving it at the standard pinned position would be best,.

a citroen XM camshaft pulley outer is the same, but one of the hubs are different to the J4RS engine.

May be that's my mistake?

And 0-100 km/h at 6.5 sec is it good result for 205 gti with trottle bodies and xu10j4rs head / xu9j4 buttom end hybrid engine and standart cams?

could well be one of the problems, the J4R uses blue marked hub on the exhaust, green mark on the intake, RS uses Green mark on both camshafts.

I wouldn't know what times were good, as its all quite a lottery, as in which gearbox, diesel or sadev sequential? which tyres, slicks or Nangkangs? you get my drift

what BHP has it pulled on a RR?

:) nangkang and standart 1.9 gearbox. We use gtech pro rr for detecting time.
