Fuel Pipe Nfp

Recommended Posts

BlueBolt

I'm looking for an alternative to item 7 off this::

FuelPiping1.jpg

They're listing it as NFP. I'll check tomorrow to see if there are any anywhere around the country that may be available for me to get shipped to my branch, but I suspect not...

My fuel piping there is starting to show signs of age, and not wanting to loose fuel, I thought it probably best I replace...

The only reason I had a good look was that I saw a drip coming from it, raised the car to check it out, to find it was no longer around (the dripping) and every time I check since it is still free from leak.

What have other people used for replacement of this, other than going down the braided lines route as I simply cannot afford that right now as I learnt before when I asked the question...

Thanks

Chris

Edit::

Having looked at the price of it from Peugeot, at £47.44 each, I'm even more on the look out for an alternative!!! Could do a whole lot of the braided for the price of both very short fuel lines!!!!!

They're 8mm (5/16"). That's the correct size for fitting over the metal pipes anyway, it's a really tight fit over the barbs on the fuel pump, but it will fit.

i think you'll find that the correct size of rubber pipe is 7mm.

it is also still available from main dealers (well it is through my local one)

Yes mate it is, but at £45 ish per pipe that comes from the pump to the solid pipes I'll go with some eBay stuff lol

Now I find out... lol

Have ordered some off the bay now, thought the price was for the little bit of pipe per side. Servicebox and I don't comprehend too well

I wouldn't.

I used some ebay 7mm silicone fuel pipe on my car & it didn't last six months, replaced it with the original stuff & its still fine.

I am looking for item 1 off the picture, I have installed ew engine and I am trying to figure out what size hose I need with what joiners from the the metal pipe, to what fuel pressure regulator I should buy to get a return to the fuel tank as the ew engine only has a fuel feed and a shrader valve on top of the rail?? and what fuel filter I need to purchase?

Not to keen on the universal idea of filters on ebay some look very smart but I want a good job out of it, and same for the fuel pressure regulaters, I have 7 days to MOT my car as the DVLA towed it away for no tax,

basically in brief I bought it, it broke down on way home, can't MOT it no running engine to test immisions, can't tax it, putting ew engine got up one morning car gone!

Thanks guys

Ok, so I've arranged to purchase some, but Now my question is:

What's the best clips to use to get them attached successfully?? I've seen the jubilee style one's that say they're for fuel lines with the screw that goes across and brings the circle in tight, but are these really any good??

If I need to go and buy a tool for fitting then so be it, but was wondering what peoples opinions are on "best" fixings?

What you describe are as Mei mentions, fuel hose clips. Ideal for the job. Only a screwdriver is required.

Noticed a fuel smell in the garage that my car has been stored in over winter so started to have a route around for the source.

Bingo. Número 7.

Rather than buy a roll mentioned above for £45 from Peugeot, are there any success stories of people using decent fuel injection rubber fuel hose from a factors? I notice Pugham mention a silicone fuel hose he used failed, but wondered if there were people who perhaps missed this thread previously who could offer feedback on replacing number 7 with injection hose.

I use rolled HP pipe, I have had 6mm 8mm & 10mm for years. I never see the point in buying genuine when it's just the same but 'pre cut'

A handy tip. Take a mug of water out the kettle, dunk the ends in for ten seconds before fitting and it makes them flexible enough to go over the barbs. When it cools it contracts nice and tight.

Make sure the fuel hose you get is biofuel compatible - we're already at E5 (5%), France has had E10 for a few years, and it's only going to go up. Older hose just won't cope with that for long. In the US, where they have stronger ethanol mix and oxygenated fuel mixes, they're having real problems with even fairly new hose. Over there, they swear by the SAE J30R9 standard, with a teflon lining, but that seems scarce and expensive to get over here.

We replaced some on the VW van in the summer - and the stuff I'd had in stock for a couple of year, and was using fine on my old Saab turbo, lasted four days. The first lot of replacement stuff lasted four hours...

Teflon lined stuff is easy to find, trouble is anything that's widely available is braided and needs the appropriate fittings usually.

Newer cars like the 306 106 saxo etc are all hard plastic anyway, barely any flexible rubber if any at all.

Trucks use a fairly rigid plastic hose similar to the o.e car stuff and is widely available in the truck factors, but they need the appropriate fittings and tooling as well.

While we are in the subject, I need to lengthen number 1 on that pic to safely re-route away from gti6 manifold.

What is the ID of the pipe to fit the standard olive fitting and banjo?

Best place I found for good quality hose by the metre is car builder solutions. Not sure if they are still around but worth a google
