Peugeot 205 Gt 1985 Road Test

Recommended Posts

Tesstuff

Had an idea it might be worthwhile sharing some of the road tests I have collected over the years with the community, allowing people to see information sadly lacking these days.

I have thousands so this may run for a year or two :) I might even think about taking requests.

I thought I would start off with a small test of the Peugeot 205 GT in 1985.

good read that :) quite glad that they decided to update the engine/gearbox and that front valance. Makes the GT a great little car to rag about.

(not that I'm biased or anything :P )

Sorry that the car used wasn't as mint an example as yours John ;)

I like information that you can't Google. The exact percentage the suspension was stiffer than the GR and all that. :)

An interesting article, it is talking about the early engine though, the XY I think it is, not the more modern TU. A friend and I owned a "GR" version of the 1360 XY engined 205 (5 door, red), bought for £40 from the car auctions we thought we had a bargain, until we tried to drive it home and discovered the head gasket had failed monumentally. Suprisingly we were not even put off by the fact that the engine and box had to be removed complete to change said head gasket. It met its end when my mate drove it onto a crop sprayer.

A good read, keep them coming.

My first car was an early XS with the same XY8 engine, what a great noise it made from it's twin carbs ( Webers on this version ), when I ran it with no air filter pipework.
