Anybody midlands-ish that would like to see this in action, Colin and Paul are doing Curborough Sprint near Lichfield tomorrow, last event of the season for them.

Was there much damage after the accident at the last sprint, or did it survive surprisingly unscathed considering the impact/landing?

Saturday the 12th according to the HSA website.

http://www.hillclimbandsprint.co.uk/events.asp

The 2013 SBD HSA Championship showdown takes place at Curborough on Saturday October 12th with all the front running title contenders present.

Alan Mugglestone leads but with two of his nearest challengers (Chris Howard-Harris and Tim Pennington) running in the same class the outcome is hard to predict. Add in Colin Satchell who sits in second place, only two points behind and has been breaking records throughout the season it could be any one of five drivers (including Paul Drowne who shares the Satchell Peugeot) who takes the title in this most closely fought of seasons. Not forgetting dropped scores and new record bonuses of course!

Thanks, I mean Saturday :S

There's a wheel missing from the selection, the steering arm joint broke, the wing needed bashing and an arch, otherwise it was just small tweaks to the alignment thankfully. Strong car!

Oh and Starter motor replaced, old one was getting slow without anyone really noticing; new one spins like a top.... brum!

Sandy, tell Colin I might well try and get over there Saturday and say hello, as I've been briefly chatting to him about driveshafts. Would be nice to say hello in person. Family commitments notwithstanding ;)

Sadly not, too much work to do and I've got other cars running in Jersey Rally, Mull Rally and Regency Stages, so nice to be near a computer for live timing!

About time I updated this to include the first season's results with the car:

Colin Satchell, ASWMC Hillclimb overall champion
Colin Satchell, SBD HSA Speed championship 2nd overall
Paul Drowne, SBD HSA Speed championship 5th overall

There have been a few straggles with scenery along the way, but thankfully the car has been hugely strong and reliable! A bit of testing to improve the set up for "circuit" type events will follow shortly, before it comes apart for the winter rebuild.
A huge thanks to everyone who's helped along the way :)

Revolution 5 spokes, Escort RWD 9" rears modified to fit.

Next event is Manor Farm, Charmouth, on the 22nd Sept btw.

Sandy, what so you mean by modified? And what offset are they?

About time I update this I guess?!

Last year Colin won the ASWMC hilllclimb championship and took 2nd overall in the SBD HSA National Hillclimb Championship, unbeaten in his class for the entire season (except by Paul Drowne in the same car). This year so far, he's only yeilded by a few tenths to Keith Murray's massively powerful 4WD Audi Quattro 1400 Turbo at Loton Park. Yesterday was a fine day out at Wiscombe Park, with Colin beating his own record and only beaten by two of the single seaters!

What happened to blocking off 5th to prevent 2nd to 5th changes - or do you need all 5 gears for Wiscombe?

Very impressive by the way :D

Looks like alot of wheel turning! Do the rules not allow a quick rack or are the corners just that tight that you have to even work a quick rack alot??

It is a quick rack and the corners are that tight!

It's unusual to mis-select fifth as it is now, a one off. Colin used to use BE1 so that reverse was on a lockout collar/cable and fifth could locked out with a plate on the gearbox casing, but now uses BE3 and BE4 components and reverse must remain operational under the rules. This event doesn't require fifth, but the last one and next one it's needed.
