Deffo Revolutions or copies. My old boy has original revolutions in that design.

Nice wheels, they look really purposeful. Would really like a set of those for my hillclimb build or reverluton RFX's if I could fine some nice wide once.

Hope you do well on 22nd.

Awesome, see you there Ash!

We've been through some little jobs to make sure it's 100% ready. Not bothered sorting out the launch control yet, it's a very short stretch from the line to the first corner, so probably irrelevant anyway. I hooked up to the ECU to check peaks and found it had been round to 9900rpm; which obviously must have been a downshift with an 8500rpm limit as was. Valve to piston inlet side is pretty tight, so we bore scoped it and found no signs of touch, all good. Colin suggested dropping the rev limit, because he didn't feel the need to use all of it and it would be nice to be able to brush it without a worry; so it's down to 8100rpm for now.

I was committed to dyno'ing a JRE engine this morning, which wasn't really in my plan; but it had to be done, so I sadly didn't get to the event until gone two. Almost immediately hooked up with some familiar folk though in the spectator enclosure! Colin had apparently spun in practice and knowing he's been pretty ill all week, I'd feared he might not be on top form today. Paul was fairing better this time (double driving it again) and on his first timed run cleared a 27.88, a stunning time over half a second under the class record from last year's event and 3rd overall, beating most of the single seaters and only giving 0.75sec away to David Simm's fastest time so far (SRD Duratec powered Ralt 33/34). I'd arrived too late to witness that run, then heard their class competitor Lillington's Astra go away from the line, followed by tyre screech and whistles/red flags... not good. After a long pause the Astra came up the hill with some frontal damage and a failed run. Colin was next, although I couldn't see it there was no doubt it was him, with the distinctive (and seemingly louder than anything else) induction bark, but it too went quiet before the bridge and whistles again... oh crap. Turns out he overshot the second corner a bit and nudged the barrier, eventually appearing with the front valance hanging down and a failed run (55 secs), not ideal.

Paul by now was hoping he could dig a chunk out of him time and go for the FTD trophy (Fastest Time of the Day) and pull a coup on the single seaters in the dry, the trophy looked massive and he wanted it! The back end is a bit loose at the moment, because of running slightly higher ride height than designed, due to the tyre clearance issues from testing and he suffered a bit as he overcooked the first corner after the bridge, gathered up and tried to make it up through the last corners, but probably made it worse, posting a slower time than his first run, but still decent 28.93, i'm sure he scrubbed away well over a second!

Colin's second run was a get to the end job, he didn't want yet another excursion, so it was a decent time but not remarkable enough to push Paul's first. No other single seaters went faster than him, so he stood proud at the end, 3rd overall and David Simms kindly drew attention to that performance in his acceptance speech!

There was a third run for fun, but didn't do much better, the cooler track slowed everyone, but Paul still did a 27.93, more time in the car and the right ride height... FTD may well have been in sight! But as it was, nothing major broken, alot of fun and some great sideways heroics by the third run drivers to entertain!

There's another event there tomorrow, which Colin and Paul will contest, but sadly I can't be there due to workload.

Today I saw this car in the flesh, On first impressions words can not describe the time and work that has gone into this. Had a brief chat with Colin very friendly and nice guy. I managed to get a little video but as the weather was dreadfull I'm sure they were just feathering the throttle.

Just heard from Colin from day two at Manor Farm, although I haven't seen the official results yet. Very wet and Colin did hold FTD for a time! David Simms (Ralt Duratec single seater) managed to get ahead of him by 0.4secs though in the end and Colin beat Paul by only 0.01secs! The 4WD cars ran them close all day and they were handicapped slightly by only having slicks, while the others had wets; 2nd and 3rd overall can't be bad!

This is all great news, what is the drivers perspective? - clearly Colin is no stranger to sprints/hillclimbs - what does he think of the new car?

How does it compare to his previous one?

Is this the theoretical ultimate, or if you were to do it again would it be different - and if so, in what way?

All credit to the Cornwall Massiv - Respect ;)
