As title, they have bought all tooling etc to carry on making them and all other tran x products.

At least Quaife will have a decent LSD now lol

will the ATB better suit the street fight than Tran-X?

It's never better than tran-x,but for road use probably is easier to use.Plated diffs make the steering a bit heavier,ok if you have pas though.

I presume Quaife will now make the exact same plated diff(tran x) but with the quaife name.

With any luck they will make it fit first time like the ATB, rather than having to grind the diff casing to get it in.

They're not difficult to fit though and it's the very nature of why they work that the casings need some light adjustment!

Coming from plated diffs, ATB's may as well really not be there IMO i'm afraid, no doubt they are doing 'something', but it's quite questionable if it's really worth that much when you compare it to a proper LSD.

I'd also say they don't really make the steering heavier, certainly the few times i've gone from open to plated diffs, in a few different cars now, the steering weight change isn't really noticeable, they're just a bit snatchier at times, doesn't take much to get used to though.

I'd echo Baz's comments about the steering, I drove Sarty's 2.2 briefly which had a plate diff and didn't notice any difference in the steering till I turned into a corner and it tucked in nicely instead of understeering, that's with about 196 lbft!

For the one season where I did drive mine on the rods to events I never found the plate diff hard to drive on the road at all. Agree it can feel "snathcy" sometimes, but not in a way that is uncontrollable or unsettling . And I agree with Baz, you can't compare a ATB to a plate, like chalk and chesse in terms of the difference.

Mine is heavier only on tight bends.

Fitting electric pas eventually so not bothered at all.

I receive regular e mails from Quaife and they me informed yesterday of the Trans x buy out. One of the things pointed out in the e mail was that for the time being all the parts will be continued! :D
