Starting Issue That Makes No Sense!

Recommended Posts

starky5

Hi,

My 205 has a odd starting issue that is becoming more frequent. The car will turn over on the key no problem but doesn't fire up, however if i then put it in gear and try to start it so it jolts the car, then dip the clutch after the jolt it starts every time. Any pointers as to where to start looking would be appreciated!

I can hear the fuel pump going and see that the starter is turning the engine when i turn the key but i don't seem to get a spark. All i can think is that there must be a dodgy connection somewhere but i have no idea where to start looking!

HELP!

Thanks

Possibly the main ignition HT lead from the distributor, maybe bad connection or arcing.

Could be a dodgy earth connection, ive had to renew most of mine over time, when they get corroded it can be hit and miss if it starts or functions the jolt might be just enough to for a contact
