Brake Compensator

Recommended Posts

starky5

Hi,

I have just spent hours trying to bleed my rear brakes and have finally got them working......ish! I think the compensator on one side is faulty as the drivers side bleeds like normal i.e. nice and easy to press the pedal, fluid came through easily and clean fluid turned up quickly.

The passenger side however caused all sorts of problems, one i eventually got the brake fluid as far as the compensator i had to push the pedal very hard to get any fluid to pass through. Im guessing this means that this compensator is faulty and that the brake on this corner wont be doing much?

Any opinions would be great before i go replacing the wrong side! haha

Thanks

unsure if faulty or not sorry

might we worth checking if the compensators were correct for your car? remember reading the 1.6 and 1.9's had different 'models' - think they were different letters, would need to check.

Do i have to replace both sides? Im thinking due to the age of 205's second hand ones are a gamble and new ones are £45 each so if i can get away with just replacing one side i would be much happier! haha.

Yea i saw the 1.6 is completely different with its drum brake set up and single line going to the rear.
