None Starter

Hi help needed!

Over the past few weeks i have changed the head gasket and fitted new valve stem oil seals.

While the head was off i changed the starter motor which had developed a worsonong none starting problem. I would turn the key you could hear the starter solenoid click but no power was applied to the motor.

After several turns it would start, so a new motor was fitted during the head off activity.

Put the head on, put everything back and the new starter has the same intermitant fault, but even when it does turn the engine it does not fire.

Checked everything, independent earth for the motor cleaned up the earth points on the gear box, got 12 v on the injectors but the plugs stay dry.

So the engine turns now and again and there is no activity from the injectors even though they have 12 volts on them.

Would a duff ECU be the problem?

Starter issue is often the wiring on the brown multi plug on the engine loom. Roughly connected below the oil filler tower ontop of the gearbox. renewing these connections often solves the issue.

Fuel issue most likely is the fuel relay which is located in the cabin. removal of the lower dash trim above the pedals will show you the black relay next to the ecu.

Check if you have power to the fuel pump etc via this relay.

Maybe have a look at the ignition amp usually mounted somewhere near the bulkhead on the passenger side, bosch ones are generally reliable but if its a intermotor or non descript version they can cause major issues
