What The Hell Is This?

Went to pick up a parcel at dhl this morning and a guy that works there came into the reception after me and said i think this has fallen off your car, at first i thought he was joking, then taking the p155. I know its a 25 year old e reg but things dont usually just drop off like that. Anyway ive had a general look around and i cant see anything missing............SO can anyone tell me what this random part is ive never seen anything like it, it seems to be some sort of heat/moving part protector for a pipe/link/rod????

 

The memory card is just so you can tell the size of it someone thought it looked as big as a washing up bowl lol

Thought it might be just couldnt see where or tell which one it had come from, also seems a little odd that it dropped off in the dhl yard after id just come up the m1 at god speed, oh well thanks craig p.s. i bet you knew what it was straight away because you have a brand new un haa haa
