Help Needed Regarding A 206 Steering Rack

Recommended Posts

jeremy

Ok I have managed to source all the parts needed to repair my daughters car, however I need to replace the arm/rod from the track rod end to the steering rack. Basically I would like an idiots guide.

Thanks in advance

Jeremy

As far as I know it is a similar arrangement to a 205? Pull the rack gaiter back, lock the rack right over to the side you need to do. with a pair if stilsons get hold and undo the old one. There is a lockwasher that is not re useable. Fit the new ( should come with new lock washer) tighten it up. Then replace the gaiter and track it up.

its more like a 406 rack in that it hasn't an external Ram, but the theory of boot replacement is indeed much the same.

there is a pipe interconnecting the boots to equalize the pressures in them side to side, but they aren't sided, there is no lock washer listed on Servicebox, many dont use one, track rod ends are handed, track rods are not.
