Gearbox Dust Cover

Hi all,

 

I have an '88 GTI with DKZ 1.9 and BE1 gearbox. It's missing the flywheel cover so I grabbed one from the wreckers off a BE3 equipped base model 205 thinking they'd probably be universal but it didn't fit. Fair enough I thought. So then I bought one from ebay listed as 'for 205 GTI, 1.6, 1.9' and it's just arrived but it's identical to the other one. So now I have two that don't fit.

 

Are the BE1 and BE3 covers different shapes?

no, but 1.9 ones for engines with the bottom end stiffener are different, you can modify the 1.6 items easily enough to fit.
