jonb_5 6 Posted June 11, 2012 Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me the name of any company to contact for a set of springs. I am looking at 400lb and 40mm lowering. They are for Bilstein Challenge Front Suspension. Many Thanks Jon
Baz 421 Posted June 11, 2012 Any decent company will sort you out or even go direct, Faulkners for eg.
Chris H 10 Posted June 11, 2012 (edited) are you reslly sure you want 400lb....especialy if your using the original challenge iserts. Good dampers but they i'd imagine the damper rates wouldn't work well with such a hard spring. Edited June 11, 2012 by Chris H
welshpug 1,646 Posted June 11, 2012 unless re-valved I doubt you will want to run such a massive spring rate on those dampers,,,
Baz 421 Posted June 11, 2012 (edited) Yup, ideally you'd need them re-valved to suit, & worth pointing out you'd want some large bars on the rear to match too! Edited June 11, 2012 by Baz
jonb_5 6 Posted June 12, 2012 Hi Thanks for the info. I am currently going to match the rear with 24mm TB's and 25mm ARB. What do you guys think the maximum lb's would be with these dampers? Also, I have researched a previous post regarding a conversation with GAZ, http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=125141 Do you think it would be better to just have "GHA kit but have a fixed damping front coilover strut" with the 400lb springs or a softer spring on the Bilstein? Many Thanks Jon
allanallen 528 2 Cars Posted June 12, 2012 You're definetly in the right ball park with 400lb springs. I'd certainly be looking at coilovers though, custom wound standard diameter springs aren't particularly cheap and you probably won't get them right first time!
