Xsara Vts Gearbox

Evening all,

 

I am currently in the progress of fitting a 2 litre 8 valve turbo (XU10J2TE), along with a xsara vts gearbox. I have just put the left hand driveshaft in, only to find that it does not go all the way in. The collar that sits in the seal on the gearbox is not fully in. I have done a quick search on the forum, which has produced a rather alarming result! from what I have read, it seems that I need to fit the 205 diff into the gearbox, is this true? Or is it something that people do by choice for better ratios?

Perhaps I should have done a little more research before cracking on!

Diff change or use the Xsara/306 inner cv yes, as you probably found!

 

Just change the diff not the CW&P, that defines the final drive ratio.

Think I shall just change the inner cv's for now then!

just a quick one the inner joint only fits on the 1.9 shaft. I know this down to some one fitting a 1.6 shaft on my 1.9 p.s the 306 turbo d inner joint fits the vts box fine as its easyer to find

Thats perfect, its 1.9 shafts that I have. I Will pop down to the scrappers tomorrow and see whats available.

much better to fit the 205 diff, if you ever need a quick driveshaft swap it will be just that, no faffing.

 

or an LSD

I plan to fit an LSD in the near future, so just going to change the cv for now and keep saving for the LSD.
