Twin 40's With Mechanical Lift Pump?

Recommended Posts

tdr_1976

Hi,

I'm just about to fit twin 40's to my TU3S and I've just seen a couple of 205 Rallye videos on youtube, one of the cars seemed to be running a mechanical lift pump to feed the 40's.

Surely, it wouldn't be able to keep up the demand of filling the carbs?

Reason I ask, is that if it's good enough, I wont have to wire up an electrical pump, and blank off the old one.

Here's the video, it shows the std pump from 4:40

Cheers!

I've edited the first post, it wasn't clear what I was asking, a few too many ciders this afternoon I'm afraid.......

Is it the same pump that's on the TU3S though?

I'd rather use the mechanical pump than an electrical if I can.

I've had a look through service box.

Both the TU3 and 24 have the same pump.

With that being the case, I should be good to use the std pump with the 40's then.

The TU24 in my car runs the original 1989(!) mechanical fuel pump and it works fine with the twin 40's, no need for an electric fuel pump.

PS The car in the video sounds like the roughest TU24 I've ever heard, they obviously didn't spend many of the 13 months restoring the engine.
