Backroadpug that looks good, what type of paint did you use?

now that is the question you should have asked in the first place then you could check the colour charts.

I painted mine black last year whilst I re built the engine and cylinder head, I kept the gearbox, head and other bits silver to aid spotting oil leaks etc.

I used Hammerite Garage door paint, and gave it three coats, works a treat and doesn't peel.

A few pics;

Tdr, did you use garage door paint for the silver as well?

Your engine and box look good, I am worried about spotting oil leaks as well if I paint(hope for none, but it is French) so I like your idea.

Hi mate, I used aluminium paint for the head, gearbox and all other alloy bits, the best thing about it is the fact that it sticks well to the surface!

Go on then.

Halfords engine enamel for the block and box. Halfords high temp aerosol for the cam carriers and covers etc.

I painted my first engine with bush on High temp paint..... It peeled off after a few months.

The second engine was painted with engine paint and lasted untill around its first winter.

Third engine was painted with VHT paint as above and flaked off in patches after a year.

It's not really paint, but a spray on powder that sticks for a while.

The fourth engine I had Vapour blasted! (or glass bead) (finer than shot with a much nicer finish)

Looked good for 4 years as a daily commute! If I'd have been arsed to coat it with WD40 every winter as recomended, It'd lasted much longer.

Even so it still looked better than it did.
