Which Tyres?!

Recommended Posts

Stephen W

I have recently refurbed a set of 1.9 wheels and I am now looking to rubber these rims up.

Now the question is which tyre to go for?!

I will only really use the car in summer for road use but want something with a reasonable price tag and good grip.

Do any of you guys have any recommendations?

Thanks Stephen

Have a look through some of the recent threads on this very topic...

(without saying do a search)

PE2's seem very popular at the moment tho...!!

Toyo & Yokos are reasonably priced and good in good weather use...cheaper than PE2s..

Hankook S1 Evo equally good as the PE2s -if not better- and cheaper!

Your car looks mint, post some pics up!

I've had some toyo's in the past and although they were quite grippy they were lethal in the wet. Not sure if that's just because they were worn quite a bit, still legal tho.

Might have a look into the yoko's, lost with what were up to now is it A539s?

Anyone had falkens? Seen those quite cheap.

Thanks for the replys guys :)

539's haven't been about for a while, there's Parada's now, cheap but crap.

Falken 912's are pretty good and very well priced.

Yeah now I seem to remember the A539s were around ages ago!

Cheers baz, I've seen those falkens so it's looking between those and PE2s.

Thanks for the info guys, I know tyres feel different between each individual, but seeing as we all enjoy driving pretty much the same car it's good to hear your views.

912's are probably the best value for money tyres I've used. I didn't get on with 539's in the wet in my old mini, not sure what they're like in 15" though?

Slimmer than a slim thing! I have about 10 of them still and sold some nearly new 45's a few weeks ago, they're awesome track tyres!

The 912's are less than half the price of PE2's i guess, so might be a big part of the choice!

check the date on it, chances are it'll be like plastic by now and not worth using...

depends what size you use, but a 195 50 ZE912 comes in at around £39 and a PE2 £54.

I just decided on the falkens today with price and a few responses on here.

I was drawn to the PE2s with all the positive comments but with other things to buy the falkens it was.

But thanks to everyone who took the time to give there opinions it is much appreciated.

Stephen.

I shall do :)

They should be here tomorrow then get them fitted up at work. It might be a while before they're getting used properly as I'm off to New Zeland in a week.
