Strange Oil Pressure

Hi, just a quickie hopefully. When I start my 1.9 205 turbo from cold the oil pressure gauge shows the pressure rising but not smoothly whereas all the other 205's ive owned did, it does get 3/4 of the way across the gauge after 5 seconds or so. When i drive it after its warmed up the pressure then drops to a quarter of the way across the gauge so 2 notches or so. I'm gonna take the sump of tomorrow to have a quick look at the scavenge and such, is there anything else it could be? Could it be crappy oil or something?

Leave the sump alone, most likely of all us a duff sender or wiring. The standard gauge is at best a rough guide, in general a guessometer and at worse just incorrect.

Is there any other way if checking it? I was on verge of getting a spring and plunger etc for the pump

Fit a proper mechanical gauge.
