Ma Box Ratios

Recommended Posts

calvinhorse

I'm after a longer ratio box for my xs.

I have a 1.1 5 speed box in stock, will this give me a better motorway cruising speed? I'm really not bothered about loosing acceleration I just need it to be easier to drive on long runs.

Cheers

Calvin

It might do, google the code.

It will have the weaker diff though, and big gaps between the gears unlike the sport cluster an XS uses, I think!

Weaker diff... Great

I have no idea what the number is?

The above has been posted on quite a few forums and is a pretty good guide. Not one that i have done btw!

Thanks e8-pack that's really helpful! Think I'll give the 1.1 box a go

Oversize your front tyres too if you want longer ratios!

I'm putting 14" steals on it (up from 13")

But the lower profile tyres will probably even it out!

Does the 205 xs have a tighter ratio box like the 106 Rallye and xsi..??

I have an xs box on mine. But when i checked the code on that suzuki site it has a slighty longer ratio than most xs's but not as long as a 1.1. It seems a good tradeoff if you can find one. 2ca09 with a final of 3,93750.

I have driven a lot of long journeys in the rallye and cruise around 140km/h.

Not sure what car it comes from. But I guess it helps with 115bhp odd to pull it.
