S.a.d Vs Icv, What Different...

as topic,

 

anyone can explain, what advantages/disadvantages of that devices?

as I know, ICV controlled by ECU...what about S.A.D?

is ICV better than S.A.D?if yes, on what case?

SAD - open when cold. As it heats up from +12V, the orifice slowly closes over, shutting off bypass air around the throttle. Takes approx 10mins. The orifice is adjustable. Adv is simple but crude.

 

ICV - pulsed width modulated +12V from the ECU controls a barrel valve which varies amount of air bypassing throttle. Adv is more consistent idle speed.

turbo and 16v... ICV :)

I should add that Mi16 is 2 wire PWM, where as GTi6, XSi etc. is four wire stepper motor (completely different). SAD was fitted to anything Jetronic, 505 included.

And 2.0 mi16 /306 S16/XU10J4 is 3 wire PWM
