td_dan 7 Posted May 31, 2012 just wandering if the 1.9 hubs will be a straight fit to stdt driveshafts? want is the standard setup on stdt's is it a 1.6 setup or base model setup? thanks in advance, I did try a search but didnt come up with much
Anthony 1,002 Posted May 31, 2012 1.9 hubs won't fit without swapping to 1.9 driveshafts. STDT's were a slightly odd combination - base model hubs, 1.9 disks, 1.6 calipers, and 1.6/diesel driveshafts.
td_dan 7 Posted May 31, 2012 so 1.9 caliers should fit in that case IF it has 1.9 discs, what the difference between 1.9 and 1.6 discs? i.e size, vented, unvented?
td_dan 7 Posted May 31, 2012 and how would i be able to check that? sorry for the noob questions
welshpug 1,646 Posted May 31, 2012 tape measure, or by sight, as its quite obvious, 1.6 discs are 10mm taller front to back.
td_dan 7 Posted May 31, 2012 ok thanks mate ill check them this weekend thank you both.
Anthony 1,002 Posted May 31, 2012 1.9 calipers will fit fine either way, just a question of whether they'll clear the standard wheels if it has base model hubs fitted. Remember you'll need to use matching 1.9 caliper bolts, as the 1.6 Bendix ones are far too long.
td_dan 7 Posted May 31, 2012 thanks anthony i have a set of 1.9 calipers and bolts in the shed so i will upgrade, im assuming ill need 1.9 brake lines aswell, wheels should be ok as its on speedlines at the minute
Anthony 1,002 Posted May 31, 2012 Brake lines will be fine - exactly the same for both types. Just calipers, bolts and pads to swap and then rebleed the brakes, although if the front disks aren't in good order then clearly you'd be wise to replace them at the same time. They'll fit under 1.9 wheels (assuming that's what you mean by "Speedlines") without issue.
td_dan 7 Posted May 31, 2012 ok mate thanks for all your help 1 more question, are the 1.6 and the dt driveshafts the same?
Anthony 1,002 Posted May 31, 2012 Yes, or atleast, they're certainly the same fitment and they're the same when buying aftermarket/non-OE items.

Strictly_Derv 34 Posted June 1, 2012 Yes as they say they will fit, I've had 306 DT brakes and S16 266mm brakes on my Dturbo.
