Turbo Convertion

hi, im having wiring problems with my 205 turbo convertion i bought a 1.9 gti engine that has been converted (similar to turbo technics) i have it in my car now it will turn over but it wont fuel and i think i could smell a burning smell. only thing i could think of is i changed the loom originaly the car had a manifold mounted coil i put the loom in to suit the engine (side mounted coil) i was wondering if the wiring in the plugs under the dash were different of if its something else maybe. not electicly minded so im canny stuck if anyone can shed any light i would be greatfull.
