Center Cap Spraying/refurb

Recommended Posts

john-melbourne

Hi Guys,

I am due to pick up my newly powder coated Speedlines in the next couple of days, Just wondered if anyone has ever sprayed/refurbed the center caps to match? Is it just a case of rubbing then down/priming/spraying then finishing with clear coat?

Anyone got any before and after photo's?

Thanks

John

Hi John.

When I refurbed my wheels I done exactly as you have mentioned above.

Rubbed down, primer, silver wheel paint and then lacquer. Couple of coats for each. Just give a good amount of time to dry in between each stage.

I took photos at each stage of the wheel but not the caps. Sorry!

Did you just use the stuff from halfords in a can? Or is it worth going somewhere different?

Thanks

John

I done all 4 of my wheels and purchased this from ebay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/E-TECH-PROFESSIONAL-SILVER-ALLOY-WHEEL-SPRAY-PAINT-LACQUER-400ML-AERSOL-CAN-/140744619880?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20c5087768

Really good stuff. I ran out of silver towards the end and then got some from Halfords. It was nowhere near as good as the E-Tech paint.

Hello, have you had your wheels done in silver or a non standard colour, I had mine powder coated in a dark grey/black, so to paint the caps I took a wheel to a car paint supplier and they mixed a can of paint to match, they had a massive book of colours and went through it with me unroll we found one I was happy with.
