Oh i dont know if this is entirey acurate but my mate who is a profession mechanic tells me to rough up the ports slightly rather than making them smooth with a polish... he says something about it causing turbulance which gives a good mixture which gives more power if i understood what he said correctly, and beware oversizing the ports it dusnt always increase power figures. His words where after i mentioned getting a port and polish "its just a money making scheme that gives no benefit"

I aint no expert but he won the mechanic of the year award! LOL

exactly! and the weathers a bit on and off at the moment.

even just a sheet of tarpauline tied to something either side would help

soooooo this is the compressor i used today :) cost me £50 off my brother and its nearly new so bargain lol, i know its not exactly huge but its not the size of the tool its how you use it

2j14uh0.jpg

so first coat of the new colour going on :)

n1dkz8.jpg

yep its black :D had many sleepless nights trying to decide what colour to do it and even went through a faze of wanting to paint it racing blue but that idea quickly went out the window :D

so next coat on

20ur628.jpg

and another

2u5rj9x.jpg

and another

23u4p4o.jpg

2ug06l3.jpg

went for 5 all together :)

at this point this was how the sky was looking :(

j8guxf.jpg

but still carried on lol next was the boot and the bonnet, the bonnet im not happy with as well as the roof but it should flat and polish to a nice even paint finish like on my brothers, well i hope it will :D

34qpcn6.jpg

boot getting a few coats

f1xfgx.jpg

bit of progress today :) began the flatting and polishing process on the bonnet in-between the rain lol

here's how it was before hand

sc3kfc.jpg

rrl16q.jpg

as you can see its was as flat as a flat thing so i broke out the wet and dry paper grades 1500 and 2000 which gave me this

107rqlx.jpg

whole bonnet done the same

58oso.jpg

317a1c8.jpg

then onto the polishing :D after one pass with farecla scratch remover

av5yrb.jpg

after a few more, half the bonnet done :argie:

1z6877l.jpg

s618c3.jpg

and finished :D

you've done an amazing job mate! really well done on the finish. Just bit of a shame your not doing the door shuts, engine bay etc? You could have done it in red and looking pimp! opinion and that.

ive seen quite a few roller paint jobs and it can look amazing :) just have to make sure you get a good few coats on there so there's a nice amount to flat back :D i was nervous painting the pug which is nothing on a T25's size lol just got to get stuck in there and keep thinking of what the end result will be like.

i've always wanted to be able to paint decent myself, i've had numerous experiences where i've had shells etc whch needed prepping and had to pay others to do it due to having no kit. think i need to invest in a compressor and proper spray tools. i had someone paint a wing of mine on my 306 a few months ago and he got splatter or debris inside the gun and it caused small marks all over the wing - presumably due to him rushing it or being an amateur! so basically how my whole car would end up if i did it

That looks great! Good work!

I resprayed my car last year in similar conditions but unfortunatley I didn't use a rocket hardner and put the car back together too soon! The paint has moved in places where the trim has expanded and contracted. :( But it looks ten times better than it did! :)
