Where To Buy/find Wheel Arch Liners?

I'm on the hunt for a full set of 4 wheel arch liners (IF the 205 was ever fitted with them?!)

 

The car is a 1600 Gti, will base model items fit if the Gti didn't have them factory fitted.

 

Does anyone know where i might find some to buy?

only ones they had was a driver front covering the crank pulley, think there was some on the left side on some models but no chance of finding any these days.

 

best bet is some mudflap material or something a little stiffer fixed in place, have a look at Steven Gault's Saxo on the rallye register :)

i thought of doing this with some of a later car like a 406 but have not tried it.

I had bought a full set years ago that came from France, NFP now though. I have also had 1 205 gti in the past that had both and my current GT has two as well.

 

Try here http://www.rhnuttall.co.uk/Our_Products/Sheeting.html speak to Ian the MD and ask for some off cuts of outside rubber of any thickness you may need. They only do a minimum order of around £35, so if you speak to Ian and ask for some off cuts and put your cash into their charity box, he'll sort you out i'm sure.

 

I bought a box full for £25 posted, it's for all the cars brackets etc, its to try and stop them scratching the newly painted parts which could end up rusting.

They where standard in the northern countries, such as sweden - I saw lots of them then I was there. Might be an option to ask our forum members who are located in that area.

Thanks for the replies folks. I've got a roll of quite stiff 2mm sheet that i can cut into shape to make a liner, it just saves so much mud and water getting up into the door hinges etc and makes cleaning the car after rallies much easier.

 

I'm going to start a blog about the car so will put some images up, once i get round to doing it. too busy with the car to be doing blogs!

mud shouldn't be getting to the door hinges, have your front wings been off? they're usually seam sealered on.

they've had the seam sealer removed and have been off after every rally, the only way (in my opinion of course) to properly wash the wheel arches and strut tops after a gravel rally.

 

I'll get some cardboard and start making a template

I had been wondering about this, do you know which models were likely to have had one? Im trying to come up with ways to keep my engine bay clean, as they are normally quite good at getting dirty very quickly!

 

I think I will also attempt to make a OE looking engine tray at some point as well, am I right that they did have one from standard, fitting to the subrame, as there are little bolt holes in corners of it.

Im in the same sort of boat wanting to keep the new engine bay clean, try Gtech nanotechnology for that extra dirt repelling. I thought of getting a 306 gti6 under-tray and modify it to fit the 205.

 

As WP said, they have been known to be fitted on lower spec models, you might find some at the local scrap yard.

Yeah, I may look into modifying an undertray, a did a 106 GTi have an undertray? Might be a fairly similar size. Will go scrapyard raiding at somepoint with a tape measure.

Surely you could make an under trays your sleves, get a nice sheet of alloy ect ect ! <_<

I'm actually surprised that track day boys don't start looking at smoothing off the underside of the car, particularly the drag at the back before the valance where the rear wheel sits. I undertrayed the rear of my Alfa to go with the front and combined with the splitter and rear spoiler it made it very stable at high speed
