Recommended Posts

So do I make the effort to keep the PAS on my conversion or not?

I'm going throttlebodies too so obviously space will be tight too.

Whats peoples experiences?

I have got a VTS rack on my car, its driveable without the power assistance but far nicer and easier to drive quickly with it working.

Forgot to add, it will be purely for track work.

I guess on average I do about 200miles on a trackday.

I'd keep it especially if you've got a plated diff in. it's just something less to think about in my eyes, you can concentrate on driving rather than mauling yourself.

I think you will be thoroughly pissed off with it, especially if you go anywhere with a tight hairpin like Cadwell or Mallory. All I will say is, if you do remove the assistance, do it in such a way that you can put it back at a later date if needed.

Looks like Ill be engineering it in as I build then, I do have literally everything off the Xsara.....

I may as well do it right first time.

Cadwell is my local track 20 mins from my house. :-)

Another one here with a VTS rack that's retained the PAS.

You can get a PAS pump relocation kit to mount it where the aircon pump used to be if that's your reason for not fitting it.

I've driven VTS racks without the PAS and they're OK, not silly heavy, but I personally find it much nicer with the PAS retained.

Not a VTS rack, but I've a 2.4 WMMS converted rack with no assistance fitted with a TransX diff. It's not really heavy, but it gives your arms a serious workout. One lap of the 'Ring leaves me totally shagged.

I've a 2.6 Xsara PAS rack to go on now.

Just mods to make it reliable
