Go On Then Which Cambelt Kit Do I Have?

I went to fit a recently bought cambelt kit, skf no. vkma 03235 and guess what it doesnt fit. the belt is longer and the idlers/adjuster are slightly different.

 

Let me guess there are about 500 variations?????

 

Or I've been given the wrong one.

 

Anyone have the correct skf part number?

assuming this is a VTS/gti6 engine, there are 2 belt types.

 

Also, when you time the engine, use an 8v bottom pulley to line up the timing marks, else you'll 99% likely bend the valves

I've locked the flywheel and pinned the cam pulleys so hopefully no issues there

yours will be the later 137 tooth belt as standard, though the 136 with the manual tensioner is preferred, GSF do these kits much cheaper than most.

 

if you want to swap to the 136 from a 137 engine you need the stud that the tensioner sits on, 0820 17, and the bolt 6923 78, which is a normal M8-1.25 x 25mm long item with a washer under the head.

 

there's a few different types of idler pulley, some need a much shorter bolt, if its one of these make sure the bolt isn't bottoming out in the block as I've had some ever so slightly too long.

God knows whats thats off.

that'll be an EW10 belt kit, which to be fair was used in an 02 Xsara, just not the VTS.
