Boot Install Question

Recommended Posts

john-melbourne

Hi Guys,

Just getting ready to install my amp and sub in the boot, and have a couple of questions.

Where did you ground the amp on the boot?

Where did you run the amp power cable through the bulkhead?

Where did you put the crossovers, if you installed front components?

And finally I have seen people who have put Tue tweeters just under the heater vents, is this just a case of cutting the holes to size and wiring them in?

Thanks

John

Hi,

1/ Rear seatbelt attachment on chassis

2/ With the bonnet release catch cable

3/ RH - where the relays are under the drivers side dash, screwed to the plastic trim

LH - Hanging in the glovebox but will be similar to the other side.

4/ My components sadly won't fit on the vents so I screwed them to the plastic trim of the A-pillar. It's an easy part to replace so I figured I'd try that out.

I have some tweeters in the front speakers and I just cut holes for them and then hot glue gunned them in. Think that I had to drill a tiny bit out of the day behind it as the tweeter fouled. Not a hard job though and if done right looks tidy!

my tweeters are under my vents, they have got a flush mount kit with them so yes its just a case of cutting the hole. i used a hole saw to get it neat and there is a little bracket on the back which holds them in. my crossovers are tucked up and zip tied under the dash.

you can also use the boot catch as an earth point but any bolt going into the body will work.

I moved my tweeters all around the front and found mounting them in the dash to give the best sound. You've got to be feeling brave or stupid to attack it with a hole saw though. Not sure which category i fell into that day

In the first two pics it shows a piece of mdf that I cut to size and managed to wedge under the parcel shelf/rear quater interior. The second two show the power cable going from the battery to the bulkhead, and if you look on you car you will see a gromet you can put the cable through, and the find it comming out somewhere behind the glovebox,
