Catalyser To Group N?

Recommended Posts

donkeymatt

Evenin' all,

I currently have a catalyser fitted in the exhaust line, and would ideally like to replace from the downpipe with a group N (or similar) system.

I have had a look around, but can't find any with fittings for the lambda sensor. Is there any way round this, or do you know of any suppliers that sell these kits?

Cheers!

Drill a hole up the front of the catalyst , take an 1.6 driveshaft nut , place it on top of the exhaust pipe and weld it all the way around taking care to finish weld without holes/cracks where it might draw air and mess the sensor signal . Apply copper grease on the O2 sensor threads and screw it in , connect the wiring - job done .

(do the O2 sensor hole drilling on the exhaust pipe upwards from the horizontal towards the up vertical , so as in the middle @ 45 deg. , as if you make a hole horizontal to down vertical moisture will short the life of the O2 sensor ..)

lambda is m18, 1.6 driveshaft nut is m20 so that wont work!

plenty of lambda bosses on ebay

Actually, the lambda is 18x1.5 and the 1600 shaft 20x1.5.

Not sure on that one , but i do know that i used driveshaft nut .. might be from some another car then , cos i have a bunch of nuts and bolts and the one i used was identical thread/pitch as the O2 sensor ..

Thanks for the replies, on the hunt for a lambda boss!

This might be another stupid question, but is there any difference in the total length of the exhaust line from the downpipe to the backbox between a model with / without catalyser?

I am eyeing up the OMP group N line... :P
