Longest Car Ownership..?

As above really, i was day dreaming in the van on the way home and was thinking about how long ive owned cars and am curious just how long some of you have kept yours..?

As Im fairly young, the longest I have manged is just over 4 years ownership for the 205. Have only driven it for 10 months of that though!

Had a 605 SVTI - 2.0 8v Turbo for 8 years and it had all the peugeot toys but i scrapped it last november because the insurance was taking the piss and wanted the same amount they did 8 years ago with 5 years no claims. Kept the lump, box and all wiring tho for a little car i had just acquired round about the same time lol it was superb to drive, very fast 40-128 was phenominal for such a heavy car, sadly its was a bitch to put right all the millions and millions of problems that it had when i first got it. Collected a few spares for it too over the last 8 years as well. Still miss it now....

9 years , daily drive 205 ... i've had more different cars (along with the 205) in the past , but i keep on going with the 205 as my longest car ownership , and will continue as it is for sure ..

Had my previous 205 GTi for a little over 6 years until I sold it last Autumn - now owned by Feb, and is this months picture of the month

On the 4th of July I will have owned my 106 GTI for 11 years.

 

It's mad how quick time goes by as you get older.

I have now owned 205's for 16 years. The longest individual one I had for 11 years (I think) It was an Osselli fitted 1.9 Turbo Technics conversion which was my road car and then my Hillclimb car. I sold it to a young enthusiastic chap in Birmingham but the last I heard from 'Stu' was it was still rotting in the guys back garden with the engine out for a refresh that never happened :blink: :angry:

 

Since then I already had another standard GTi and here many years later I still have 2 - one race car, one phase1 standard

Ive never understood how people can swop cars every few months, can't see how you can fully appetite a car in such a short time..

I had my previous 205 for 4 years, sold it and then bought it back and kept it for another year before selling it again to Anthony who reincarnated it and sold it to Andy_C on here.

Love-hate relationship, withdrawal symptoms and all that? For sure!

I will have owned my 306 HDi for 10 years in August. Had a fiesta before that for about six months but thankfully the engine seized.

I've had my Euro rallye since May 1991. Also got a 1987 1.9GTi which my dad owned from new and is now mine. I pursuaded him to take it for a test drive when he was on his way to buy a brand new 2CV, fortunately he saw the light!

I'll have to dig the log book out for the CTi, I think I got it around 14 years ago now (When my mates boy was born), other than that one most have come and gone, Mind it's been in store for 6 years now, Maybe another 5 or so and I'll get her out again

Coming up for 7 years for mine. Had it built and running (just about!) for the 2005 PSOOC europe tour, and that was in May. It probably is in the running for the shortest ownership, after Anthony bought it and consequently offered to me within days.

Longest owned was my first GTi at almost 4 years. Longest car was my mark 2 Granada 2.8 GL estate.
