mine previously had base model torsion bars which are thinner than gti ones. It now has Gti ones which would be the same as yours.

wobbling sideways doesnt sound normal to me though

Now I am not certain, and I am sure CTI statto (Henry) will know for sure, but I thought the CTI had base model spring rates all round?

aye i think it might have too as its got the crappy xs front suspension, ive bought a gti subframe, gti front struts, brand new drop links and nearly dropped dead when i saw how much the wishbones cost, is there anyway to renew the ball joint by itself? Im hoping the my 1.6 hubs will fit the struts too as im sick of spending cash on this bloody car

Yes the hubs will fit, no you cannot replace the wishbone ball joint, you have to replace the entire wishbone.

thanks for clearing that up tom my subframe came with some bones but as usual they are loose it just seems like such a waste since you can replace the bushes altho i cant see what the point would be since they will probably outlast the balljoint anyway

I wouldnt listen to what people say about xs supension being 'crappy', as you'll often find the same people saying that xs' are very nimble and handle well

ive no idea what its like but ive bought all the parts to refurb it anyway just need a good excuse to be prepared to be without the car for a while if the tube turns out to be bolloxed, it doesnt squeak and the arms go up and down fine and cambers are within limits as ive just had it 4 wheel tracked by computer at tanvic tyres and the printout said the tolerances are within limit. when i said its like driving a jelly i was referring to the front end its very unpredictable, but then ive just fitted pas so i guess the feel is gone anyway

205's PAS doesn't remove the feel.

Just to add to this, the CTi's had the same beam set-up as the XS, which of course means not just softer shocks but a thinner roll bar.
