Tu24 Engine Gasket Kit

Recommended Posts

MattCoggins

I think ive made the decision to rebuild the TU24 engine in my euro Rallye.

BUT! are the gaskets and stuff the same as the iron block?

Could i get away with buying just a head set? Are there any gaskets in the bottom end or is it all sealer on the Alloy engine?

Can anyone recommend a suitable supplier for the kit?

Any help and past experiences are all welcomed!

Thanks in advance

Matt

The head set is usually listed on eBay.

Don't do what I've just done and buy the cheapest one, it's really crap quality :(

parts are different for the iron block, no liner seals !

not sure what comes in the engine kit additionally but there's £38 difference.

also TU24 have different stem seals to other TU's so you need to get those additionally to a gasket kit, they're £3.77 each :o

engine gasket kit is 0197 H9, £108,

valve gasket kit is 0197 H8 £70.

neither include a head gasket, which is the same for a TU1 and 3, but not the iron block.

Thanks for the input guys, Welshpug with another spot on response, thanks again guys.

Can I just ask though, would you go for Pug dealer parts? Calvin what did you do? Ebay specials?

Also is the valve gasket kit 0197 H8 the valve stem oil seals?

I prefer Payen headgaskets but I am willing to take advice on other options!

the valve gasket kit doesn't include the TU24 seals, though I think they have the standard tu ones.

tu24 shares the stem seals with the xy/xv/xw engines.

I've not done much on TU engines, but with parts I tend to check th prices for o.e and aftermarket decent brands, if they're close I tend to just go o.e though sometimes you can find a cross reference to a different car manufacturer and find a significant saving.
