Standard Or Modified

Have you kept your pug completely standard or modified it, and why did you choose that option?

I kept it looking pretty standard but I swapped the engine for a 2.0 turbo one. The reason that I did this was to bring the 205's performance into the 21st century but keep that 80's retro charm :D

Mines modified with standard peugeot parts :D Mostly off other 205s (aircon, heated seats, gentry sun visors etc) or other peugeot standard stuff (GTi6 calipers, 405 one touch windows). Mostly subtle mods, apart from the alloys and numberplates, but I had to have my personal touch somewhere :)

Exterior wise mine is as it left the factory, bar the retro mod of the reflective rear trim panel and the alloys are now black. My Peugeot Sport bodykit was fitted by the dealer when the car was new so i don't count it as a mod :D

Engine wise it's the standard 1.9 engine as it left the factory with no mods, although i have changed the usual bits like the gear rods, engine mounts, coolant hoses, etc for the aftermarket versions from BBM & Pug Racing as they'll probably last the lifetime of the car (if not longer)

One that is modified and is obvious, one that is modified but not obvious unless you know what you are looking at, and one that is standard.

Modified for track days (sometimes wish it was standard as it's a phase 1)

Standard or very close to it with only subtle visible mods.

Ideal world, one of each standard for keeps & mechaniclaly modded for fun.

Been lucky enough to have almost everything normally aspirated and standard looking, from 115bhp (std 1.6) to 240ish bhp (2.2 16v).

Looks as standard because they can't really be beaten, and performance is what you make of it, i.e. I haven't necessarily had a better time in a car with twice the power of another.

I'll save my cravings for forced induction for another car, probably a retro Saab or Lancia Delta.

TSW wheels are essential though at some point in your 205 lifestyle.

Both mine are for keeps (unless I fancy a Goodwood at some point) so are mechanically and bodily standard. Both CTI and GTI have heated seats using genuine Pug switches and the GTI has both heated screen and mirrors. I fancy a heated screen for the CTI and A/C on the GTI too (6 hole panel anyone?!).

I prefer then to drive as Peugeot intended, even if they are blown into the weeds by most modern diesels, on the straights anyhow.

Each to their own re mods though.
