well poly will last longer and sharpen the handling but will also stiffen things up ( maybe too much for some people? )

rubber was used as standard but degrades relatively quickly and is softer so therefore more pliant.

so it depends on whether you want your ride hard precise and stiff or just the same as when new?

hope that helps :)

god it's tough when i haven't driven 'stiff and precise'. i live in wales. am i just going to get one sore arse?

and yes. he's my seriously hot 205 gti specialist mechanic. he says poly. but he's a rally driver. i'd like to hear you guys' thoughts.

;)

well i dunno how well upholstered you are so cant comment on getting a sore arse lol! ( though i can of course think of nicer ways to acheive that lol! ) :D

but on a serious note your mechanic is right but poly bushes can make a car a little stiff for some but the benefits are longer life and handling improvements!

ordinary rubber ones will of course make a vast improvement too in handling especially if those fitted are shot! but will have a shorter life than poly ones!

let us know what you decide upon?

'lower arm' but i'm ignorant - is that wishbone? or maybe it's worth replacing the whole set...?

as for upholstery... luxuriant, of course.

;)

hard to choose before having felt poly.

more comments welcome.

will definitely let you know what i decide on.

thanks guys.

lower arm is the wishbone yes.

pug's wishbone bush kit is around £20+vat for the lot, including shiny new nuts and bolts, they do last years if fitted properly too.

tighten the bolts with the wheels on the ground/ramp :)

cheers welshpug. ;)

there's always that real peugeot temptation. even just for the logo. i enjoy watching my wipers going back and forwards. is that sad?

:)

are the pug kit rubber or poly then? and is there any advantage in changing the whole set to match, or it makes no difference?

As said, OE is the only way to go, Anyone in Motorsport rarely uses anything else as the so called Poly stuff is cr*p, and with Powerflex they do just as the name suggest's 'Flex'

well poly will last longer

Mine lasted less than 3000 miles.... became VERY dangerous to drive. The bushes fell out afterwards.

Yes you'll find some decent poly bushes about, but seriously just stick with brand new pug OE bushes.

Indeed - one kit contains four bushes and nuts/bolts, and is sufficient for a pair of wishbones (i.e. one car!)

nice to hear you decided to keep to original and standard! :)

as has been written above some poly bushes can wear out extremely quickly despite their manufacturer advertising otherwise!

as more of a purist i tend to replace like for like and stick with peugeot parts myself but it does depend on what you use your car for ( ie trackdays racing or road ) as to which components you fit to your car i guess.

I've been using Poly for the last two years and over 8,000 miles with no problems. I purchased my poly bushes from Ti Motorsport.

Ditto , OE rubber bushes (made by Kleber) ... will give you great handling and they're quite durable , just need to ask proper part No. which contains an bag with a pair of bushes for both sides + new bolts/nuts ..

well, she's smooth and kind of slick around the bends with genuine peugeot but after nothing but craccked rubber, it feels excellent. maybe try poly next time though...

thanks guys!

always oem rubber bottom arm bushes. They've last 20x 50 mile rallies on my rally car (including some jumps where i genuinely thought the bottom arm would snap) and are in an 'as new' condition (in terms of wear or degredation)

Poly bushing is a false economy in my opinion and experiences
