You need the BE3 clutch pedal, from the phase 1.5 onwards iirc.

No i dont sorry :(

There are a few threads about this subject/problem, try the google advanced search. The be3 clutch pedal with the BE cable then gearbox and that will sort it for you.

If you need a BE3 pedal then I've got one here.

Easiest thing is to convert the whole lot to BE3 - so pedal, cable, gearbox, and if you've an early Phase 1, the pedal box - and then everything is as per the the later cars and there is no issue trying to work out what parts you need.

However.... the one thing that doesn't add up is that you can't fit a BE3 cable to a BE1 pedal, as BE3 is a hook fitting and BE1 uses a clevis pin. Which was yours, and did the clutch cable that you bought have a part number or anything that could be cross referenced?

if you have a be1 pedal you can turn it into a be3 pedal easy enough. but as antony says, there seems to be something amiss here.

its not specifically BE1/BE3, its pre or post 1990, MA pedals are the same.

cables are different, there's two BE1 and two BE3.

What's the 2nd variant of the BE3 cable out of interest, as I've only ever seen one and only ever remember one type being listed?

Certainly is two types of BE1 cable though - ones with the early twist-fit pedal box fitting, and one with the later BE3 style push-in bulkhead fitting.

the car is k reg so pre 90, the cable i have is the same fitting at the pedal as my old clutch cable, with a different grommet, but is to short on the clutch arm,

Anthony how much for the pedal and possibly a cable if you have one??

yeah, K plate is definitely phase 2  so should be a BE3 cable pedal etc.

Though I've never seen one, there seems to be a BE3 gearbox end with the usual grommet in the pedal box but a clevis pin pedal, would be fitted to any 89 BE3 car which are pretty rare I think.

all 4 are listed by motaquip.

BE1 up to 07/88 VVC213,

BE1 from 07/88 VVC372,

BE3 up to 12/89 VVC505,

BE3 from 1990 VVC367.

so the OP needs VVC 367 if its a K plate.

E reg should be the earlier twist-fit pedal box fitting and BE1 pedal (clevis pin type).

It is definitely a BE3 gearbox that you've got isn't it? Reverse below 5th? As obviously it would have had BE1 as standard.

There isn't a BE3 cable with a twist-fit pedal box fitting.

The easiest solution to this in my eyes is to just fit a BE3 pedal and pedal box, making everything nice and straight forward rather than messing around trying to adapt stuff to fit. Certainly that's what I have done in the past when fitting BE3 'boxes on early cars.

I do - both the BE3 pedal and the BE3 pedal box, and no problem posting :)

With that you'll just need a standard 1990-onwards BE3 cable and it'll all go together and work.

Drop me a PM and we'll sort something out.
