I tried to buy it from the previous owner for 1000 but he held out for 1200 quid......

Needed a new bonnet, valance, bumper after a slight argument with a wall

Has it had the "vital" jobs done like the seller suggests? (beam etc)

Can't blame him for trying I suppose, but yeah a couple of grand over priced for me.. The 205's on pistonheads seem to be all £2500 + these days i've noticed.

I like how he puts the 205's weren't very well made

Compare it to a Ford of the era for example. Obviously it's just sales talk, but still.

Seems to me to be a strange sales technique - I know what he was trying to say, but it reads to me as "buy this car for £4k and it'll rust and fall apart before your eyes" which I would suspect is not what he was aiming for...

Maybe just me, but the front all looks on the p155?

It isn't great (although I've seen far worse!) and ties in with with OP's comments about it having had a front ender.

It's the close up of the poverty spec non-leather steering wheel that I particularly like.

Yup, saw that the other night and thought it was previously cheaper-advertised!

Not as original as he's suggesting and the description or tact he's using is stupid, you want to sell it or not?

yeah its been on ebay a lot for less money and didn't sell.............what a great idea put it up for more! lol

Seller is very coy about how long he has had it when questioned - as i say it has deffo been into a brick wall at low speed - probably got a pic on my phone somewhere but IMO its worth no more than 2k - especially when you consider it cost him 1200

Afternoon,

Yes, was up for around £3200 that did not sell; then reappears at a further £1000, which seems like a great selling technique?

What I take from that advert is that

1) It was owned by enthusiasts previously, but has since been bought by a profiteer whose only intention was to move it on at a vastly inflated price

2) He doesn't actually know a lot about 205s

I've said it before and I'll say it again, IF I had money to piss away and wanted to relive my youth (talking about well heeled, middle aged men here) then I'd probably be quite happy to spend 5 or 6k on a mint/near mint OE example. But as an enthusiast, I would never spend that kind of money buying from someone like this, I'd be much happier buying from a genuine enthusiast who could show that they'd loved the car whilst it was in their ownership.

" then a grown up knowledgeable approach and a sensible email may gain my personal telephone number"

In my opinion, this chap comes across as an arrogant pr&£k.

Not to mention that his phone number is already on the ad!

You shouldn't feel obliged to sell something cheap if you bought it cheap, but whether he'll get that is a different story, can't him for trying.
