Did The Front Fogs Get An Upgrade At Some Point During 205 Life?

I've managed to get hold of 2 front valances complete with fogs. One of them is from a 91/92 J reg 1.6 and has fogs with a platic casing. The other valance had fogs with a metal case/surround but I've got no idea what year it was from. Does anybody know if both these were standard (meaning they were upgraded at some point) or are the plastic ones aftermarket?

original Siem ones where metal, as they are prone to rust to need. Expensive form Pug, but you could get them from GSF , not sure now.. GTi's actually run drive lights not fog lights.

Plastic ones sound after market to me. As above, the original Siem ones had glass lenses, metal surrounds and a plastic housing.

 

 

Genuine ones should look like that.

They sound like the Ring ones available in Halfords for £30

 

Just out of interest, I presume it is possible to remove that metal casing which rusts on the OEM unit and give it a sandblast and a decent lick of paint/powder coat it?

Yes, just obviously you need to do that while you've still got sufficient solid metal to 'blast and paint

 

Undo the two screws and the metal surround just pulls off.

If it's anything like the seemingly 'solid' 306 airbox I blasted, the surface rust was actually holding the thing together. And that was very low pressure.

 

Will give it a blast and see what happens.

i need the backing for that exact fog light, apart from mine are the yellow french syle ones! the metal surounds have alittle rust on them too! im just in the middle of sanding them down now! but need the backing of them :/

Thought as much, thanks for info. The whole driving light is pretty rusty, inside the lens is a little discoloured too. I've started sanding the metal case surround down with my dremel. (if you don't own a dremel, buy one! There useful for lots of things)

The plaggy ones don't seem to sit right in the mould too.
